Happy to say, I’ve been designing some of the channel graphics for the Criterion Channel. Each of these mini posters is for a series —either on-going, like Shorts For Days, or as a collection of films devoted to a director or a theme. The design process isn’t so different than designing a cover for the collection. Art director, Sarah Habibi and I will spitball ideas. (There’s usually a story or direction we could/should pursue.) Next, I present my interpretations. I like to present at least 4-6 images on the first round. We’ll usually fine tune one or two which leads to the selected image.
